Your Mexico Beach Trip Vacation Guide

I am so excited to share with you guys the recap of our trip to Excellence Playa Mujeres in Cancun. This was a business and a pleasure trip. I wanted to be able to get some spring/summer content for you early on in the year because with shipping delays and how fast things are selling out- you have to jump on it. Now I know it may sound a little crazy that we went to Mexico for this content, but it honestly made the most sense! We looked up so many places in Florida. With how expensive things are and logistically, staying at Excellence was actually cheaper. We also did not have to worry about food or transportation from location to location, so we decided to go for it! Here is a great beach trip vacation guide that includes a review of where we stayed, what I wore, and swimsuits that would be great for the rest of the season!

Where We Stayed

We chose Excellence Playa Mujeres first, because the resort is absolutely STUNNING and we knew it was exactly what we had envisioned. Second, Jamie and I have both individually been there with our husbands and had great experiences. This is also the most popular resort of all the Excellence resorts.

Room

Our room was a pool view with a balcony and was great for the purpose of our trip. We chose not to do Excellence Club (this is an upgraded pool, a private restaurant, and few additional perks). However, we both said if we were to come with our husbands we would do the small upgrade. The room was perfect with a king size bed, a MASSIVE shower, and a day bed on the balcony. They have everything you can need for your stay including a steamer! They have rooms with swim up options, ocean views, etc. There is truly something to fit everyone’s needs.

Restaurant

The breakfast buffet is absolutely delicious. I am a breakfast girl so this was a dream come true. We ended up eating sushi at the Spice Restaurant two nights in a row. It is by far our favorite of all the options. We ate the Lobster House one night and it just didn’t wow us- so we ended the night with a couple of sushi rolls! We also ate at the Italian restaurant. All the courses there were divine and we really enjoyed it. If we had another night we would have loved to try the Indian restaurant. Multiple people have raved about how good it is. The complimentary room service is always a great options for breakfast in the room as well as lunch. There are so many options at the resort, I think we could eat at a different place everyday for a week and never overlap! Oh and you can NOT forget the wood fire pizza cooked fresh for you on the pool deck, as well as the gelato at Aroma. We definitely ate both this things daily, with no regrets! We barely put a dent in all the delectable food options available to us.

Spa

We both decided to treat each other to a surprise spa treatment. The spa in itself is such a relaxing environment. The massage we booked included hydrotherapy so we were able to do that service as well. We also did a facial and it was the most relaxing facial I have had. I know spa services can be a splurge but if you are able to get it, I would highly recommend here.

Covid precautions

I have received so many questions about how it worked with Covid traveling outside the US. They honestly have it down to a science. When you check in you receive a time to get covid rapid antigen tested. All you need is your passport , they perform the test and you get your results by end of day. The test is required to re-enter the US. This is a requirement by the country – not the resort. They honestly made the experience seamless and as least stressful as possible.

What I Brought to Wear

I was so excited for all the different matching sets I found for this trip. Personally, I am a 1cm of stomach type girl and these fit that bill. I had so many cute pieces from my favorite retailers: Walmart, Target, Petal and Pup, Red Dress, and Pink Lily!

Swimwear

I am not going to lie.. I was not excited about swimwear. Going on a beach trip 4 months post-partum is hard you guys! However, I actually liked the swimsuits I brought and felt confident enough to share pictures with you guys! I am going to share my favorites of the trip!

  • Red Dress Bikini Top- I wore this pregnant with low waisted bottoms. Post-partum I added high waisted black bottoms.

  • Summersalt– They have the cutest swimwear that also support AND have full coverage. Use code: MARYMARGARET10 for 10% off your order!

  • Target- This bikini two piece is 100% worth the hype. It is so supportive up top, has full coverage, and is adorable. I was very pleasantly surprised with how much i like it.

  • American Eagle & Pink Lily– I also loved these two black one pieces. They are so supportive, cute, and practical for chasing toddlers! Use code: SIMPLY20 for 20% the pink lily one piece!

Coverups

If I have figured out anything from this trip- It is that I have quite a few coverups! I love all of the ones from Target. I especially love the white romper- I wore that multiple times!

Dinner/Tropical Outfits

I am going to share some of my favorite outfits I brought (and some that just missed coming in time). Be sure to check out my LiketoKnowIt– to get a complete outfit recap as well! The theme was fun and tropical, yet classy and sassy.

Petal and Pup

I was truly so excited about the two piece sets I found from Petal and Pup. They were everything I was envisioning and more. They were classy yet fun and the quality was amazing. I was so excited to get you guys a 20% off site wide with code: SIMPLY20. I definitely will be shopping here in the future because their pieces truly are so cute! All three of these sets completely surprised me with how much I love them!

Red Dress

Red Dress always has some of the dreamiest best dresses! Both of these dresses truly were so flowy and comfortable I felt like I could have worn them all day! I would size down on the blue floral- but a show stopper for sure. Red Dress also had some of my favorite sandals of the trip. You can dress them up or down and they’re so comfy.

Pink Lily

Unfortunately these pieces did not make it quite in time for the trip! BUT the resort pieces and new releases are the vibe for all beach vacations. I highly recommend checking Pink Lily out. You can use code: SIMPLY20 for 20% off site wide. This skirt and pants are both so versatile. I am able to style them as coverups or with the cutest white top, and wear out to dinner!

OKAY NOW.. do not get me started on my obsession for this cheetah suit. Cute- yet toddler chasing approved, I think that is a win. If you need me look for me in cheetah by the pool this summer!

My Favorite Accessories and Beauty Products

From my favorite bags to important sunscreen- shop all my travel accessories and must haves here! Both of these sandals will be a staple this summer!

Thank you for traveling along with us on our fun adventure to Mexico! I hope this is a great reference for your beach trip vacation guide. It truly was such a tropical getaway and we had a blast. Make sure to check out my 2 day guide to Charleston, if you are ever planning a trip there!
