I know traveling can be hard- especially to places like Disney. I'm here to simplify that for you!
Family
Welcome to my world of style, sunshine, and adventure! I'm thrilled to share my passions, experiences, and fashion finds with you all. As a happily married mom of two with a background in nursing, my life is a beautiful blend of family, career, and selfcare.
When big sales come around each year it’s hard to not get lost in the hustle of it all. Grabbing everything in site, adding to cart and then getting home and feeling super disappointed with your purchases. Here are my tips and trick (that I do myself every single year) prior to shopping big sales. I thought it would be appropriate to share this post now with the Nordstrom Sale being posted everywhere. I hope you find it helpful and this year you leave the sale confident in the your purchased and have a refreshed wardrobe for Fall.
Step 1 – Make a Wish List.
A place like Nordstrom is great with this because they literally have a “Wish List” section on their site. When shopping other sales without this option, I will open items in individual tabs and in essence create the Wish List myself. When making a wish list, don’t set limits go for things YOU like, and pretend money isn’t really something you’re worried about ……for the moment.
I spent some time last night creating a Wish List, here is what I came up with for the Nordstrom Sale specifically.
Step 2 – Go into your Closet
Once your Wish List is complete you snap back into reality, where money is a factor and you probably already own a few versions of things on your wishlist. Then I literally go into my closet (see stories for details). I go item by item, if something looks pretty close to things on my Wish List I remove them from my list and then have room for things that I may not have any similars to and will add variety to my wardrobe vs getting a 5th pair of black leather booties only because these have a slight lower heel. Now you can have black leather booties, tan, leather, and suede!
Step 3 – Compare Wish List with Budget
Now is the not so fun part. We really know how much we have set aside or saved up for the sales ahead. Go back to your new and improved Wish List and really look at the pieces and see if they are staples pieces, do you have events where you already know you will wear the pieces? Basically just stop, take a second and think through why and how these pieces will be worth the money to you!
Now you’re all done and ready to SHOP. This time all your decision are intentional, you aren’t bringing home anything that you feel like is a waste of money and you are excited to widen the variety in your wardrobe!
Hope this helps, I did it myself and WOW. So many pieces that needed to be cleaned out, and even cut my Wish List down by a third by finding pieces that were similar to ones I was going to buy!
Xoxo
