Hi friends!
I am so excited to share these New born photos! Woo hoo, we had these taken over four weeks ago but you know….newborn life. I can’t believe how tinyyy she was. In these she was still 4 pounds and now she is up to 7 pounds. She is officially 6 weeks old and I want to give y’all a quick update on what life is life now.
Our lives have done a 180 since May 3rd in the very best way. For the first two week little Elle cluster fed, which is a quite an experience. Her prime time to be awake was 11-2 am every night. All anyone could tell us was give it time, she has to gain weight in order to be able to stop clustering and go longer stretches. So we just put our heads down and survived. Our NP said don’t try to schedule her, and just feed on demand. We really weren’t even supposed to let her cry very long because she would burn too much energy. Within our second week home GIRL HIT HER BIRTH WEIGHT!! Woo Hoo….no more waking her up for feedings.
We are gearing up to full on start MomsOnCall and I feel like it’s going to be so nice to have a schedule. We have a rough schedule everyday and pretty much know no matter what she eats every three hours. What happens in between is still up in the air! At night PRAISE JESUS the cluster feeding has stopped. She is able to do much longer stretches, ( 9-2) which is amazing for everyone in the Smith house.
With me going back to work and with the encouragement from our NP/Pediatrician we are going to follow a schedule. We have been reading MomsOnCall. We have started her about 2 weeks after the books says to start. Right now she started on the 4-8 week schedule but she is 6 weeks…. does that makes since?
Elle lovessss her crib and does AMAZING with naps each day. Truly I was shocked at how much better she naps when we start the sound machine, place her in the crib and close the door. She seems like she can get solid rest. We just ordered her monitor and will start her sleeping over night in the crib (not in our room ahhhhh) this week. I am excited but I know in my gut it is the best thing for all of us, but a little nervous to not have eyes on my baby at all times!
Month 1 happenings/ Things she loves
The sweetest little feet & toes. I could stare at them all day.
Thanks so much for reading & I hope you enjoyed our new born photos.
