I recently listened to a Podcast that spoke about how to actually achieve your goals. He gave some impressive statics that stated you are 42% more likely to achieve goals when you write the down and 78% more likely to complete them when you say them out loud! I really took that to heart. So to hold myself accountable and track my progress I will be doing a monthly goals check in, starting with a January 2021 goals check in!

Each year I write about what my goals are in a blog post at the start of the year but to be honest I never really give a follow up and then wonder why my goals usually look the same / unachieved each year. This year I would like to change that and hope to have a blog post at the end of each month with a brief update on how my goals are going! I encourage you to do the same! You could write it down in a journal, talk about it with a friend once a month over coffee or even start your own blog!
Spiritual – My main goal is to increase in consistency! This is actually going really well. I have missed very few days of my quiet time this month which is super encouraging. What has made the biggest difference in this category is attempting to wake up before Eloise is awake every day of the week and also getting a quiet time that only takes between 5-10 min makes a big difference. This one by Well Watered Women has been amazing. I hope to continue to carve out more time each day so I can increase the study time but right now 5-10 is very realistic for life and working out well!
Financial – Not sharing specifics, but it is a great area to make goals for yourself too!
Personal – This area the focus was physical and mental health. I truly believe both are just as valuable and equally important. My physical health goal was to increase my OT classes to 3 days per week. I was able to do it two out of four weeks last month but WOW I can not believe how much harder it is to get up a third day early. This goal is a struggle right now but I want to keep it up through February and see how it feel after! In March I plan to add in a day of walking or yoga. Something that still keeps my body moving but isn’t so hard on my joints.
My mental health was up and down this month. I know this sounds crazy but after New Years I feel like we just wait until March gets here! We live for any day above 50 degrees outside and take full advantage of the sunshine. I have to be super intentional about being creative with Eloise and what we do inside. Which means a lot of painting, markers, stickers and me having to be ok with it getting everywhere!
Self Care Sundays are going great I truly look forward to my book and hot bath. To add this this mental health goal I wanted the 30 minutes before I went to bed each night to be phone/screen free. I ended up setting a screen downtime on my phone or all apps except audiobooks and text at 9 pm. This helps it truly shows me how hard it has become for me to step away from work and my phone at night!
Professional – Things are getting exciting in this area! I am very excited to share fun Spring content. This month we will be going on a work trip to the beach for a week. I am literally counting the days! It was hard to change up our environment last year. So that is something I am looking forward to this year. A little (obviously safe) traveling! More to come on this goal!
