Who is ready for the weekend?! I know I am! Part of our Mother’s Day gift to my mom was taking her to Treat Your Feet! We are going to Flying Biscuit before and then mom, my sister in law (who I adore) and myself are getting our feet treated! I don’t know what all this entails but I am just thrilled about the title alone! Enough about the weekend, onto reviewing this book.
I am not going to lie I seriously thought this entire book was about Florence Nightingale the founder of nursing. Being a nurse I was excited to read about a nurse in the WWII setting! I got about half way through the book and literally had to google and see if there was a nurse coming anytime soon to this book……the answer is no lol. Although it isn’t about a nurse it is still an amazing read!
Kristin Hannah writes books that pull at your emotions pretty hard. This one was so well done about what life would have been like for two women back in this time period. They are sisters who are somewhat estranged and how the War brings them both closer but also creates space between them that we will never be able to recover from. It is crazy to think that the horrors that happened back then actually did, some of the parts were just chilling. I tried to put myself in these women’s shoes and I would have not lasted the first Winter….seriously. It is a beautiful story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Not so much in a scary way, but you just know that these women are in such danger the entire time (even though they aren’t Jewish) and you want them both to be ok!
I would definitely recommend it, I feel like we each can relate to characterist of each sister which is why you grow to love them both. I don’t want to say too much but from my point of view I would give it an 8.5 out of 10!
Thanks for reading today’s post, if you read this book comment below with your review I would love to hear your thoughts!
