I know traveling can be hard- especially to places like Disney. I'm here to simplify that for you!
Family
Welcome to my world of style, sunshine, and adventure! I'm thrilled to share my passions, experiences, and fashion finds with you all. As a happily married mom of two with a background in nursing, my life is a beautiful blend of family, career, and selfcare.
This spring break, our family traded chilly mornings for sunshine, swimsuits, and tropical breezes. We spent four wonderful days at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic with our two daughters—ages 5 and 3—and it turned out to be the perfect mini escape. We stayed for 4 days and that was the perfect amount in my opinon!
Flying with two young kids can feel daunting, but getting to Punta Cana wasn’t terrible. Our flight was only three hours, and the resort is just a short 18 minute drive from the airport. Which was definitely a selling point & I am grateful we didn’t have a long ride to the resort. We arrived ready to dive into vacation mode.
Ziva Cap Cana’s water park was a major hit with our girls. They loved the playground pool, the smaller slide that can hold 4 at time. We called this the “family” slide and easily did it 50 times in four days! Lastly, we loved the lazy river, it became our go-to hangout every afternoon. The girls especially loved it.
There are five big water slides, but unfortunately, our girls weren’t tall enough for four of them(Andrew and I still tried them all out). That was our only (very minor) disappointment, and honestly, they didn’t mind at all. There was still plenty of fun for their age and size—and it’s something to look forward to for our next visit.
We were really impressed by the food. Every meal offered something for everyone—fresh fruit, grilled meats, international dishes, and plenty of kid-approved options. Whether we were grabbing a poolside snack or sitting down for dinner, it was easy and stress-free to feed the whole family well.
The breakfast buffet called El Mercado was our go-to in the mornings. For lunch the girls we did either the food trucks in the kids area or ordered food from the Navigator Grill. They had pizzas, chicken, salads .. all the go to lunch foods. My personal favorite was a buffet grill that was set up outside the Navigator grill each day, I could not get enough. It was so fresh and the steak was next level yummy.
Dinners we kept pretty simple, because our girls aren’t the most adventurous with food. We tried the Italian and really enjoyed it. We also did the Navigator Grill which was another hit. On two of the four nights the girls were tired and so we just did the buffet one night and ordered room service the other. We all really liked the food and there was something for everyone wherever we ate.
Every evening, the resort hosted movie nights on the lawn, and our daughters were obsessed. They snuggled into bean bags with popcorn and sweets while watching movies on a big screen. Meanwhile, Andrew and I relaxed next to them by the fire pits—a rare moment of calm that felt like a mini date night. It truly added to the special moments of our Spring Break trip! It was the perfect blend of family bonding and grown-up downtime.
If I could do it again, I’d bring way more sunscreen. Between the lazy river, beach time, and walking the property, we went through our stash fast. Pack extra—you’ll use it.
Ziva Cap Cana was amazing!! —sun, fun, good food, and zero stress. We left with happy memories, a few tan lines, and two little girls already asking, “When can we go back?” We are already looking into something similar for next Spring Break and I can’t wait!
We use @getawayswithsarah for all travel bookings, she’s wonderful. I could not recommend using a travel agent enough. It just adds to the stress free vacation & I was thankful it was all taken care of.
